Northern Michigan Native and Former Major Leaguer Roger Mason Tabbed as Pitching Coach
Roger Mason, of whom I own several baseball cards like the one above, has accepted the position of Pitching Coach on Gregg Langbehn's staff for the 2009 season. Mason is a veteran of nine MLB seasons with the Tigers, Phillies, Astros, Giants, and Pirates. Mason appeared in one of the most famous games in World Series history, leaving in line for the win in Game Six of the 1993 World Series with the Phillies...Mitch Williams entered looking to save the game and force a seventh game when Joe Carter hit a walkoff three-run homer (Picture above right)...
