Rembisz at Double-A
Former Beach Bums pitcher Bryan Rembisz, who took the ball on opening night last season at Wuerfel Park and earned the win, has been promoted to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim's Double-A affiliate, the Arkansas Travelers...
Rembisz made an impressive debut for the Travelers last evening in Texas, earning the win in a 5-4 comeback victory over the Midland RockHounds...Rembisz tossed three scoreless innings and allowed just two hits in his Double-A debut...He entered the game in the second inning and promptly gave up a pair of hits before getting out of the inning...He did not allow another hit for the remainder of his stint out of the bullpen...
Rembisz was signed by the Angels last year in July after going 3-1 with a 2.60 ERA in 45 innings of work over seven starts for the Beach Bums, becoming the first Traverse City player ever to be signed during the season and becoming one of three to get picked up in 2008 (Joe Blackburn and Mike Goetz were signed later in 2008 by the Phillies and Pirates respectively)...He proceeded to work 36.2 innings out of the bullpen for the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, of the High-A California League...Rembisz was 1-1 for the Quakes in 21 appearances with a pair of saves and 26 strikeouts to go with just five walks and an ERA of 3.44...
A native of Connecticut, Rembisz, who pitched collegiately at Vermont and owns the distinction of being the only Beach Bums pitcher to ever record a hit with a run scoring single in his only professional at bat on August 27, 2007 against Rockford, was sent to extended spring training to begin the 2009 campaign after reporting to camp with the Angels...When circumstances caused a shakeup in the minor league system, Rembisz received the call...
