Solid pitcher's duel last night with Kyle Kearcher of Midwest throwing seven shutout innings as the Sliders bested the Beach Bums for the first time this year...Kearcher allowed just four hits and struck out eight...David Nathanson countered with eight innings of work for the Beach Bums, allowing just two runs on a two-run homer off the bat of Bryan Vickers in the fifth inning...He took the loss, just his second of the season...The picture is of Eric Newton being greeted at first following a hit...

Back to the Grind: Midwest at Beach Bums -- July 18, 2008

Tonight opens a 12-game homestand at Wuerfel Park! The Beach Bums have shuffled the pitching rotation a bit...Jon Cahill will join me in the Labatt Blue On Deck Show to talk about that as well as his All-Star experience...I'll also chat with Midwest All-Star OF Anthony Albano in the On Deck Show today which goes off at 6:30pm...Tonight officially begins the second half of the season with the Beach Bums just one game out of first...Lineups below...

This is an older interview that I just forgot to post...but it does bring up a wonderful thing about the former Beach Bums outfielder R.C. Dickerson...Dickerson came up for the All-Star Game and told me that he has been hired by ESPN...So congrats! He was the one who actually reminded me that I was going to put this up a while ago so here it is...Former Traverse City outfielder R.C. Dickerson sitting in the booth at Kalamazoo for a half inning back in June...The photo is from the last game of 2007 when the players took part in the on-field fun between innings...

Kalamazoo Manager Fran Riordan, who will manage the East Division All-Stars, today named Ryan Gehring as the starting pitcher for the East Division...The rest of the starting lineup is below...Gehring leads the league with three shutouts and complete games and is 4-3 this season...
