Windy City Finale: May 24

An important note to look at about today...View the first six games as one road trip rather than two separate series...Would you take a 3-3 start on the road? I think so...4-2 sounds better to me though...What craziness does tonight have in store??

Windy City 5, Boomers 4 - 12 Innings

Here are the highlights, or in some cases the low lights...Also included is a recap from the Daily Southtown, which covers Windy City...

Seventh Inning Fun

So if you caught Sunday's broadcast at Lake Erie you heard quite the thrill...My former broadcast partner Tim Alcorn joined me for an inning...Here is the audio of that back and forth...It was an entertaining inning...

Shootin' the Bull with Bennett

Here are the last two Boomers Batter Up Show Shoot the Bull with Bennett segments...Ideally I will post these on a daily basis...

What is That???

You've gotta see it to believe it...President/GM Andy Viano was asking me in Lake Erie if I had the chance to check out the uniforms for the other expansion team in the Frontier League, the London Rippers...Now I know why...Check this out from a picture in the Southern Illinoisan from Monday...

Southern Illinois

Can you tell I am getting caught up on my reading?? Here is an interesting article from the Southern Illinois media about how the Miners are changing their conditioning program this season...I find this interesting...I've always thought of the pole-to-pole runs as a recovery to get lactic acid out after starting...Apparently not???

Miners Revamp Training

For the record I know that most teams make regular gym trips on the road, and creating a more team wide plan might not be the worst thing...We'll see if it pays off...Next road trip is to Southern Illinois...

Good Post

You will notice in my link section a link to Wild About Things, a blog maintained by Chris Dugan of the Washington Observer-Reporter...

I was doing some reading today and clicked over to find an outstanding piece of work...This probably won't mean a whole lot if you haven't been following the league or been in the league for some time like I have, but Chris shows with another fine piece of reporting how much the league has aged in just the past two seasons by breaking down the current rosters of each team and showing what they would have been under the old rules...You will notice how much more experienced teams and the league are becoming...Chris is one of the best in the league and has been at it for a long time...I always enjoy reading his work...And talking to him when the team visits...Remember, up until this season all of my previous 'experience' has been in the league's East Division...

Yowsers!!

Holy Heck!!! It just hit me for whatever reason but I am wiped...I broadcast a 15-inning win last year with Gary that was 5-3 game, but I think the intense nature of that game today wore me out...Afterall...Think how many chances both teams had, especially late...I can honestly say I have never seen a 2-1 game last 15 innings...Particularly one that saw Windy City use a man scheduled to start later in the series among nine different pitchers...Or a pitcher's duel that was 4:34...And that is why I heart baseball...I did do some working out after the game so that could also be why I am worn out but I think its the combination...My voice is also a little sore...I posted on twitter the total broadcast time from the Boomers Batter-Up Show on through the postgame...Over 5 hours and 15 minutes!!! Wowsers!!!

Here are some interesting notes from today...

Total Pitches: 446
Total Pitchers: 14 (Nine from Windy City)
Combined at Bats: 99 (Bryan Burke was 0-for-6 before his GW hit in the 15th) - Eight hits for each team...Combined batting average of .161...I think that speaks to how strong the pitching was today...
Combined with RISP: 1-for-18 (WC in the 15th)

10 walks, 3 HBP, 10 strikeouts from the Windy City pitchers...Tell me the last time you have heard those numbers??

Get some rest and let's go at it tomorrow!!!

For the record Washington and Gateway just played a 10-inning 1-0 game that took a total of 2:42...

Day Baseball: May 22 at Windy City

Weather looks absolutely outstanding for this day game today...Schaumburg bettered Windy City 7-2 exactly one week ago in spring training play...
